Section 2(f): Institutional Recognition
This section grants legal recognition to a college or university. It certifies that the institution is officially established under a Central or State Act and is authorized to operate within the Indian higher education system. It is the mandatory first step for any new institution.
Section 12(B): Financial Eligibility
This status declares an institution "fit to receive grants." While 2(f) provides the license to operate, 12(B) provides the gateway to funding. It enables the institution to receive UGC financial assistance for:
Infrastructure: Building and laboratory upgrades.
Research: Faculty grants and fellowship programs.
Development: Quality improvement and academic workshops.
